50 ASSEMBLY MEMBERS INAUGURATED IN THE NEW JUABEN SOUTH MUNICIPALITY

A number of fifty (50) Assembly Members, comprising thirty-four (34) elected Assembly members and sixteen (16) Government Appointees were inaugurated on Monday, February 12, 2024 in the New Juaben South Municipality. The sworn-in Assembly Members are to administer and steer the affairs of the Assembly in the next four-year tenure office. These members. The inaugural ceremony encompassed the National Security Minister, Hon. Albert Kan Dapaah who represent His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the President of the Republic of Ghana.

Other revered personnel present were; the Chairperson for the Ceremony, Nana Twumasi Dankwa, Gyaasehene for New Juaben Traditional Area, who represented the Omanhene, Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Isaac Appaw-Gyasi, Eastern Regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Suleimana Yussif Hamdani including the Assembly technocrats and Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Edward Abazing among others.

Nana Twumasi Dankwa advised the new Assembly Members to inculcate the habit of developmental focus for the inhabitants of New Juaben Municipality. He added that, the key stakeholders of the Assembly are Assembly Members therefore they should exhibit good leadership skill to push for social and economic development for the people as power reside with the ordinary citizen of the country.

He further advised them to desist from partisan politics, nepotism and selfish ambition but instead, cooperate and lobby well with the Municipal Chief Executive to embark on sustainable growth in the Municipality. Hon. Albert Kan Dapaah, the President representative congratulated the elected Assembly and Unit Committee Members and informed them on their mandate to deliberate, plan, mobilize resources, make decisions including by-laws to ensure the transformation of the Municipality and the country at large.

He continued by urging them to overcome the leadership challenges in the areas by consulting the people on the issues to be discussed in the Assembly; collate their views, opinions, and proposals; and take part in communal and development activities. “Again, to overcome these leadership challenge, you should acquaint yourself with all the relevant laws, and work in close collaboration with your Hon. Municipal Chief Executive, traditional authorities, opinion leaders, religious leaders and other key stakeholders in your localities” Hon. Kan Dapaah said.

Hon. Kan Dapaah added that, Government has decentralized some of the centralized activities to district level, he mentioned of Births and Deaths registration, “ I am expecting that you would be part of the team that finally change the status quo and deepen local governance and decentralization to enable citizenry have access to public and basic services in their Districts rather than commuting to Accra for such services” he noted.

The Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben South, Honorable Isaac Appaw-Gyasi commended and congratulated the Elected Assembly and Government Appointees Members for the hard work that has merit them their position now. He lauded the key stakeholders in the Municipality; the security agencies, traditional authorities, religious organization, civil society organisation, financial institution, traders, etc., for their dedication in contributing towards the development in the Municipality.

MCE took the opportunity to mention achievement earned by the Assembly on the District Assemblies League Table, he said through the hard work and dedication, the Assembly is now first in the best performing Assembly in Eastern Region and fourth in the entire country. He then advised the Assembly Members to abstain from any form of partisan politics so as to bring development in the Municipality.
