The New Juaben South Municipal Assembly (NJSMA) led by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Isaac Appaw-Gyasi together with the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Edward Abazing, Chairperson for Committee on Social Services, Madam Regina Obempong and the Social Welfare Department on Friday, April 8, 2022 disbursed District Assemblies Common funds(DACF) to 41 People with Disabilities (PWD’s).

Out of the people that benefitted, twenty seven (27) were physically challenge, five (5) hearing impaired, One (1) child with down syndrome, three (3) persons with Multiple disability, two (2) mentally unstable and three (3) visually impaired.

An amount of forty-two thousand Ghana cedis (GH¢42,000), made up of cheque and industrial equipment were distributed to the less privilege. Thirteen (13) beneficiaries received a cheque which worth GH¢22,850.00 and the others received equipment such as; deep freezers, industrial sewing machines, wheel chairs, hair dryers etc.

The head of Social welfare and community development, Mr. Emmanuel Larbi, in his address acknowledged the government for its support towards People with disability. He then urged them to use the items given effectively in order to generate income for themselves.

On the part of the MCE, he added by commending the government especially, His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his kindness, generosity and good intentions by providing the disabilities with the necessary logistics which will subsequently equip them to earn a living. He again advised them to efficiently use the items given for its intended purpose and desist from the act of selling the items to the public. He noted that, the social welfare department together with him will embark on a monitoring to find out if the items given are being use effectively.
